F1 star Lando Norris blasts ‘loser’ Simon Pagenaud for deliberately crashing his car in heated virtual race

LANDO NORRIS blasted Indy 500 champion Simon Pagenaud a “loser” after the two clashed while racing on a COMPUTER GAME.

The McLaren F1 driver was in first place during a virtual IndyCar race but was deliberately wiped out by the Frenchman.

Pagenaud, who won the IndyCar series in 2016 and last year’s Indy 500 race, protested his innocence but was caught out by footage on his live stream.

The daft French racer is shown driving out from the pits and says to his race engineer, “we take Lando out, let’s do it” before slowing down and forcing Norris into the back of him.

Pathetic Pagenaud tried to play innocent by saying he lost control – but he was exposed by the footage on his webcam.

The virtual shunt sent fans into meltdown as the eSports online racing series tries to fill a void caused by the coronavirus.

Norris, who had already won one virtual IndyCar race, said: “He apologised? He said he wanted to come into the pits and he wanted to slow me up, and he didn’t want me to win.

“Do you know how many hours, how much time I put into the left [turn]? How many hours I’ve spent driving in a straight line and then just doing this.

“I must have spent a day in total, I reckon I’ve spent 24 hours driving in a straight line and turning left, trying to perfect it.

“With the most delicate touch, I’ve tried doing it one-handed, with my knee…24 hours!

“And then because that guy gets a bit salty that a non-IndyCar driver is about to win an Indy race. It just ruins it. So, yeah, that’s that…”

Norris, who later saw the funny side to the crash, discussed it online with fellow F1 star, Max Verstappen.

The Red Bull ace also piled into Pagenaud and suggested they should sort it out in a boxing ring for real!

Verstappen said in a live stream with Norris: “This is really the stupidest thing I’ve ever seen.

“How stupid to say live that you are going to crash someone. If you’re planning something like that, you don’t say it live!”

He later added: “We could just put a boxing ring in the paddock. I would like to see Lando in the ring.”
