Inside Chris Eubank Jr’s US training camp as Roy Jones Jr shows he still has skills with slick punch skills aged 51

ROY JONES JR proved he has still got it as he trained with Chris Eubank Jr inside their US training camp.

The 30-year-old British middleweight linked up with the American legend after his dad Chris Sr put the pair in touch.

And despite the coronavirus pandemic stopping Eubank from returning home, he has been left in trusted hands as he continues to train in Florida with four-division champion Jones.

The 51-year-old showed he can still keep up with his star pupils, as Eubank posted a video online of the two and another boxer working on the double end bag, designed for speed and timing.

Jones was pulling off his signature lead right hand with ease, as Eubank followed with some rapid combinations of his own.

The American legend won world titles from middleweight all the way up to heavyweight when he moved up to claim the WBA belt against John Ruiz in 2003.

But after coming back down to light-heavyweight, the maverick showman seemed to lose his speed, reflexes and agility, and after being knocked out by Antonio Tarver in 2004, and then losing the rematch, he never looked the same again.

He went on to fight will into his 40s and retired just two years ago aged 49 as a cruiserweight, though he never won a world title in that division.

Jones vowed he would hang the gloves up once and for all after beating Scott Sigmon in his hometown of Pensacola, and would only be tempted back into the ring for a super-fight against UFC legend Anderson Silva.

But with Silva, 45, also edging towards the end of his career, the American now looks to lend his experience in training, as he also owns a gym in Russia.

And Eubank insists he is one of the lucky ones reaping the rewards of working under one of boxing’s greatest ever fighters, but admits he is being worked “like a dog”.

He told SunSport: “Learning from the best is all the motivation I need. I’m using this time to hone my skills and add new layers to my repertoire.

“I’ve always wanted to train with Roy and this created the opportunity for it to happen sooner rather than later.

“I’m staying inside a lot not going anywhere unless it’s Roy’s gym or the shops to get essentials.
