Real Madrid tracking Bayern Munich star David Alaba as Marcelo transfer replacement as left-back nears Juventus switch

REAL MADRID are considering a move for Bayern Munich left-back David Alaba with Juventus keen to bring Marcelo to Italy.

The Italian side are hoping Marcelo will join up with former Madrid teammate Cristiano Ronaldo at the Allianz Stadium.

According to le10sport, Madrid are planning to freshen their side up with a move for Alaba, who has been a standout performer for the German champions since returning from his loan spell at Hoffenheim nine years ago.

With Marcelo approaching his 32nd birthday, the Spanish side are looking for a younger option in the left-back position and Alaba is on their radar.

Alaba’s versatility could be a crucial factor if Madrid are to make a move, with the Austrian filling in at centre-back and central midfield for Munich.

The 27-year-old has racked up an impressive eight Bundesliga titles, five DFB Pokal winners medals and a Champions League trophy during his spell in Bavaria.

Promising youngster Alphonso Davies would be the likely candidate to fill Alaba’s position, with the Canadian impressing already this season.

A stumbling block for Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane could be the price, as Munich will be reluctant to allow Alaba to leave on a bargain.

Former Munich boss and current Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is also a keen admirer of Alaba but the defender, who has made over 350 appearances for Munich, prefers a move to Spain.

Reports suggested Chelsea were lining up a £60m bid for Alaba with the Blues desperately short on the left side of defence, with Emerson Palmieri and Marcos Alonso struggling with form and injuries.

Marcelo’s compatriot Alex Sandro has been first-choice left-back for manager Maurizio Sarri but could face a battle to keep his place if the Madrid star joins the Serie A leaders.

Since joining Madrid 14 years ago, Marcelo has won four La Liga titles and has an impressive four Champions League winners medals but his spell at the Bernabeu could be coming to an end.

Marcelo has made over 450 appearances for Madrid but a move to Juventus could be enough to tempt the defender to make a change.
