Rodriguez, 31, joined the East London club on a free transfer last summer after leaving Real Betis.

The Argentine has struggled for regular game time in England despite being a World Cup winner in 2022.

Since the arrival of manager Graham Potter, Rodriguez had only seen two minutes of action before the trip to Manchester.

His inclusion in the starting XI came as a surprise to fans but he justified his selection.
