Aleksandar Mitrovic health update as former Fulham and Newcastle striker rushed to hospital following heart scare


FORMER Premier League striker Aleksandar Mitrovic was taken to hospital for a check-up after his heart rate spiked.

Reports from Saudi Arabia said he was taken in due to a ‘rapid heartbeat caused by physical stress.’

But The Sun has learnt that the hospital visit was largely precautionary and he has been given the all clear.

He has been discharged from hospital without complication.

The Serbia international last played on Friday as Al Hilal beat Al Faihah 2-0 at home, scoring in the 89th minute.

He played for just under half an hour, making his first appearance for two months after recovering from a hamstring injury.

The injury was the longest absence of his career.

Speaking after the game, he said: “It has been a tough two and half months for me, had some problems with my hamstring, injury… after injury.”

The player moved from Fulham to Al-Hilal in 2023 for a reported £50million, making him the club’s record signing at the time.

He has scored 61 goals in 68 appearances since making the move, assisting a further 11.

He played the bulk of his Premier League career at Fulham, making 206 appearances before moving to the Middle East.

He has also appeared for Newcastle United, Anderlecht and Partizan Belgrade.

He made the switch to the Saudi Pro League alongside a crop of other Premier League stars.

Also making the switch was Sadio Mane, N’Golo Kante, Riyad Mahrez, and Jordan Henderson.

Among the first stars to make the switch from Europe to the Middle East was Cristiano Ronaldo, who joined Al Nassr from Juventus in 2022.
