JAKE PAUL has vowed to send Julio Cesar Chavez Jr into a sad retirement from boxing and goaded: ‘I’ll be there for you.’
Former middleweight world champion Chavez – son of the legendary Mexican Julio Cesar Sr – claimed he would walk away from boxing if he lost.
But the second generation backtracked on his promise when asked if his career was on the line on Saturday in California.
Chavez, 39, said through a translator: “No, I just said that to say something. I’m definitely not going to lose, I’m definitely not going to retire.
“I’m going to continue with my career and Jake’s going to continue to do whatever it is he needs to do.”
But YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul had a different view – promising to embarrass the son of a legend to a point of no return.

He said: “Oh yeah, this is it for him. And I’m going to feel bad.
“I’m genuinely sorry, I want to apologise in advance because I know the emotional turmoil you’re going to go through.
“You’re going to go into hiding, that’s who you are you love to go and hide.
“That’s what’s going to happen and I really want to say I’m sorry for what’s going to happen.

“And I’ll be there for you, I’m always there for my opponents after I beat their ass.”
Paul, 28, returns for the first time since his controversial November fight against Mike Tyson, who returned to the ring aged 58.
But Chavez Sr, Mexico’s most beloved boxer, said: “Jake Paul just fought against Mike Tyson, who didn’t even throw one punch.
“This is not Mike Tyson. You’re going to get your ass whooped. Julio is going to go in and throw some serious punches and you’re going to be running like a chicken with no head.”
Paul, 11-1 in the ring, replied: “We’ve heard it all before.”
