David Haye reveals major career change 7 years after quitting boxing – and reckons he’ll be ‘great at it’


BOXING legend David Haye has his sights set on an acting career after making his film debut.

The former heavyweight world champ, 44, stars in Under The Gun, a short crime flick which premieres next month.

David – also famed for his throuple relationships – has always had a desire to forge a career in acting after hanging up his gloves in 2018.

Of his new career, David said: “

Being directed by Charles Belleville and shooting with the amazing cast and crew was a privilege.

“Acting is a discipline, much like boxing – it takes commitment and preparation to deliver.

“I hope the viewing audience receive my acting as well as they have supported my boxing career.

“I would like to thank my acting mentor and producer, Alex Fidelski, for giving me this opportunity and credit to BUFF for giving our movie the platform to be seen.”

Under The Gun is set to be shown at the British Urban Film Festival on June 25.

David features alongside The Crown and Pirates of the Caribbean actor Kevin McNally.

A description of the flick on the festival’s website says: “Deep in London’s criminal underbelly, two detectives join a poker game where the stakes are higher than they ever imagined.”

Speaking about his acting aspirations in 2016, David said: “When I retire in two or three years I’d like to be an actor.

“I want to reach the heights in acting that I’ve reached in boxing – though that’s a tough ask, I know. I’ll have to start from scratch.”

He added: “But I’ve always loved film and I think I’d make a great actor.

“I look at someone like Will Smith, who came from music, or Dwayne Johnson, who came from wrestling – he’s done amazing, really learned his craft.

“I’d like the credibility of being recognised as a very good actor, I don’t just want cameo roles.”

David is in a long-term relationship with model Sian Osborne.

The pair have previously welcomed other women into their romance – including The Saturdays singer Una Healy.
