THE FA Cup third round draw sees Premier League sides and Championship teams join the pot of England’s oldest national football competition.
Dating back to the 1871/72 season, the FA cup is open to every club in the country down to level nine of the English football league system – clubs at level 10 have the chance to stand-in for non-entries.
Clubs compete through 12 randomly drawn rounds, leading to the semi-finals and the final – both played at Wembley.
With no seeding involved, higher-level clubs including Prem teams enter the competition in round three entering.
Ruben Amorim’s Manchester United are the defending champions, following a shock 2-1 victory over noisy neighbours Manchester City last season. Both finalists will be drawn in the third round.
