Ugly scenes as ‘hooligans attack rival football fans with golf clubs’ and police forced to ‘taser yobs’ after SPFL clash

FOOTBALL fans were reportedly attacked with golf clubs by rival supporters after a bottom of the league clash between Stranraer and Clyde this afternoon.

A huge police presence was spotted at Stair Park after the home side secured a 2-0 win.

Police were spotted at the stadium following the alleged brawl

During the SPFL League Two encounter, flares and pyrotechnics were thrown onto the park.

It is said that the alleged brawl erupted after the full-time whistle and several local fans reportedly attacked away supporters with golf clubs.

And it is claimed that the golf clubs were taken from a Ford Transit van which was sitting in the car park.

A number of fans were then reportedly tasered by police officers during the fight.

Two cop vans and a car were spotted sitting outside the stadium after full-time.

Police Scotland and Stranraer FC have been approached for comment.

Stranraer won 2-0 with strikes from Kyle Fleming and Finn Ecrepont.

The second goal was scored by Ecrepont and was an audacious lob from inside his own half in the third minute of stoppage time at the end of the game.

The official Stranraer Twitter (X) account described it as “potentially the greatest goal ever scored at Stair Park”.

The Blues secured three points in a crucial bottom of the table clash with Clyde this afternoon.

Stranraer are now 11 points clear of the relegation zone on 26 points and in eighth position, with Clyde rooted to the foot of the table on 15 points.

The side haven’t won a league game in over a month and indeed have claimed just the two all season long.

Meanwhile, Rangers beat Ayr United 2-0 in their Scottish Cup fifth round clash.

But it wasn’t without controversy on Willie Collum’s first visit to Ibrox since he faced calls to be suspended from Rangers.

Fabio Silva scored the second goal but pundit Michael Stewart and Ayr boss Scott Brown both felt he should have been sent off.
