Two more stars ditch football for Love Island as unlucky club loses second player in two years

TWO footballers are set to ditch their pre-season preparations to join the Love Island Villa.

And for Lewes FC, it’s their second star in two years that has left the club to join the villa during their summer break.

The series is set to kick off on Monday 3 June and appearing on it will be Lewes FC centre-back Ronnie Vint, 27.

Love Island’s official X account confirmed the defender would be joining when they posted: “Ronnie is sidelining his football career to focus on a new goal: score his future wife.”

Vint joined Lewes last summer from Dulwich Hamlet, where he had spent three seasons.

He has an indirect link to the Love Island villa already, through being close friends with former Sunderland midfielder Bradley Dack and his wife Olivia Attwood, who previously appeared on the show.

Vint’s departure from the Lewes squad comes a year on from the club losing midfielder Tyrique Hyde to the villa.

Hyde went on to achieve a third place finish on the show alongside Ella Thomas.

Lewes and Hyde did not renew terms after his appearance on the show, with him then signing for Faversham Town in February.

Meanwhile, Vint, 27, is not the only footballer joining this year’s Love Island cohort.

He’ll also be joined by Redbridge star Ayo Odukoya.

The Isthmian North side confirmed Odukoya, 25, would be in the villa when they posted on X: “We haven’t been able to contact our striker for the past few days and we guess this sort of explains it.

“We thought it was strange he would miss a team social yesterday!”

Odukoya scored eight goals in his 38 appearances for Redbridge this season.

And it was a season to remember for the club, with the Motormen going on to win the Essex Senior Cup.

On joining Love Island, Odukoya said: “It seems like something to have a go at. Of course, you can’t go wrong trying to find that love again – that is something that would be amazing to find if possible.

“I don’t really like being outside too much, I’ve been outside recently and it’s not fun outside! I do prefer to be indoors chilling with that person I can do stuff with.

“It would be nice to have that with somebody again.”
