TOTTENHAM are checking on Sunderland’s Anthony Patterson for the rest of the year before deciding if the Black Cats keeper will be their emergency signing.
Patterson, 24, looks the perfect fit for Spurs, who need cover for injured Guglielmo Vicario — ideally one who would be happy as a reserve.
The respected Black Cats No1 is ready for the step up to the top flight but it may have to be as a second choice.
Sunderland will not want to lose Patterson in their bid for promotion to the Prem — though they usually sell at the right price so Tottenham could do a deal.
Spurs have also considered James Trafford at Burnley but the England Under-21 stopper would cost a lot.
Ivory Coast keeper Yahia Fofana of French side Angers is in their sights too.
