And a bold prediction has suggested Julian Nagelsmann’s side will emerge victorious, but it could be a close one.

That’s not according to expert analysts, TV pundits or legends of the game.

Instead, it comes from a psychic ORANGUTAN at Dortmund Zoo.

Walter, 35, is no stranger to football predictions as he has shared his two cents in World Cups and Euros campaigns, as well as German and European club competitions, by picking up teams’ merchandise from buckets.

On Thursday two buckets were placed in the ape’s enclosure, one with a Germany scarf and another with a Scotland scarf.

Walter is used to that procedure, but this time he pulled off a twist for everyone watching.

The zoo’s spokesperson Marcel Stawinoga said: “Walter stopped in front of the buckets, and then he took a look at both and he was very strictly going to the German bucket, so I think it must be a victory for the German team against Scotland.

“But then he went to the Scottish bucket, so may be the Scottish will be very close too.”

Walter joins a list of psychic animals that football fans have seen in previous years, such as an octopus and an elephant.

But the other animals usually picked one bowl of food bearing a team’s flag over another.

Erica Correa: We exclusively revealed Man Utd star Marcus Rashford has been growing close to the Colombia-born model.

Laura Celia Valk: The Dutch stunner is rumoured to be dating Jude Bellginham and staying in his Madrid mansion.

Ellie Alderson: The interior designer is with Ollie Watkins, who will be hoping for a place on the plane after missing the last Euros and World Cup.

Dani Dyer: The actor and reality TV star is going out with Jarrod Bowen, who is in fine form and in line for a Euros call up.

Annie Keating: Girlfriend to Anthony Gordon, who is vying for a place in England’s competitive frontline.

Iris Law: The model and daughter to actor Jude sparked romance rumours with Trent Alexander-Arnold after they were spotted together.

Paul the oracle octopus was arguably the most famous creature who shot to fame in 2010.

The sea creature lived in an aquarium in Oberhausen and had an uncanny ability to predict the results of Germany’s matches in the 2010 World Cup as he correctly called the outcome of seven matches.

Walter has been well known within Germany for a long time and made headlines 10 years ago when he bit off the arm of a baby ape in the zoo.

Zookeepers claimed the orangutan lashed out at baby Yenko after the youngster reached in to his cage because he was jealous of the attention he was getting from his adoptive mother.

Surgeons managed to save the young ape but couldn’t reattach his arm.
