Alexis Mac Allister cancelled out John Stones’ first-half strike but Liverpool nullified City’s threat well.

Jeremy Doku struck the post late on but Erling Haaland was kept quiet by youngster Jarrell Quansah.

Klopp reserved praise for the centre-back after the match and also expressed admiration for Joe Gomez.

And while doing so, he called out England boss Gareth Southgate as he seemed to question why the defender has not received a call-up.
