FORMER Liverpool star Nuri Sahin has been announced as the new head coach of Borussia Dortmund.
The 35-year-old replaces Edin Terzic after he left his role earlier this week despite leading the club to the Champions League final.
Sahin has penned a deal with Dortmund until 2027.
The appointment comes after the former Turkish international spent the last six months as an assistant at the club.
Prior to his time as a coach with Dortmund he held both the manager’s role and the head of football operations role at Turkish outfit Antalyaspor.
Speaking on his appointment at Dortmund, Sahin said: “It is a great honour for me to be the coach of Borussia Dortmund.

Sahin spent over 10 years in Dortmund as a player over two seperate spells.

The former midfielder made 274 appearances for BVB, winning both the league and the German cup.
While he also enjoyed time at Real Madrid and Liverpool throughout his career.
Sahin made just 12 appearances for the Reds in the 2012/13 season when he signed on a six month loan deal.
While he also struggled for game time at Real Madrid making only 10 appearances during his two year spell on the books in the Spanish capital.
