FA Cup semi-final draw labelled ‘most fixed ever’ as Man Utd get dream tie under ‘unprofessional’ new format

FANS blasted the FA Cup draw as the “most fixed ever” after an “unprofessional” new format was introduced.

Manchester United landed a dream semi-final tie against Championship side Coventry, just minutes after an incredible 4-3 comeback win over Liverpool.

They were also not happy with the ‘unprofessional’ manner of the draw

The other draw saw holders Manchester City paired with Chelsea, who beat Leicester 3-2 earlier today.

But some supporters were not happy with how the draw was carried out.

Taking place live on ITV, Ian Wright drew balls in front of Roy Keane and Graeme Souness in the studio.

They remained seated as Wright rummaged around in the famous velvet bag before showing the numbers to the camera.

However, the audience had not been told beforehand which number related to which team.

And the casual vibe was a far cry away from most draws, which usually take place in a far more formal setting.

Teams were also drawn directly out of the bag rather than first being placed in a hat, as is traditionally the case.

The spectacle caused some fans to hit out at the “unprofessional” new format, while also claiming the draw was the “most fixed ever” due to the lack of transparency over the teams’ numbers.

Another added: “FA Cup draw was a complete fix, didn’t tell us the numbers.”

However, none of the fans were able to offer any evidence for their bizarre claims that the draw was fixed and there have been no complaints from any of the clubs involved.

TV schedules and kick-off times are yet to be confirmed for the FA Cup semis.

But they will take place on weekend of April 20/21, with the final occurring on May 25.
