Racing driver and influencer Valentina Renso killed in horror crash in Italy on her way to pick up pizza with friends


AN INFLUENCER has died in hospital three days after suffering severe injury in a horror car crash.

Racing driver Valentina Renso, 26, was travelling with two friends to get pizza when their car veered off a straight stretch of road.

First responders rushed to the scene and cut Valentina and her two friends out of the smashed-up BMW.

Renso and the young man who was in the front passenger seat were taken to hospital while the young woman in the back seat was taken to A&E with minor injuries.

The motor-loving social media star suffered a leg injury which led to excessive blood loss and caused her brain activity to stop.

She died in hospital in Padua, Italy, on Tuesday, May 14 – three days after the crash occurred on the evening of Saturday, May 11.

Her heartbroken boyfriend Demis Quagliato said: “We were supposed to meet up with some friends to have pizza outdoors, as we did regularly.

“We temporarily parted ways. She was going to pick up the pizzas in the car with our two friends, and I would join them later.

“We never spoke again.”

Renso, who had more than 19,000 followers on Instagram, lived in San Giovanni Lupatoto in Verona, according to Need To Know.

Many of her fans were members of the motor racing community.

The young racing driver described herself in her Instagram bio as “the racing driver with the orange hair” whose goal was “to create an all-female team”.

Pictures on her page showed her behind the wheel and dressed in racing gear.

Mr Quagliato said: “Valentina wasn’t a reckless girl. She always had her head on her shoulders.

“She knew how to drive cars, and she never did it just for fun.”

He added: “She was generous, she couldn’t stop helping others, dedicating herself to them when they needed it.

“If she could, she would have given herself completely to the people she loved.”
