And Spurs have brought him in to oversee their football operations.

Chairman Daniel Levy said of his arrival: “Scott has a unique and broad experience of running sporting organisations at the highest level and will take responsibility for the leadership and management of our football activities to instil best practice both on and off the pitch.”

Top of Munn’s agenda will be finding a successor for Antonio Conte following his departure last month.

Christian Stellini has taken over on an interim basis with the likes of Mauricio Pochettino and Julian Naglesmann tipped to take charge in the summer.

Tottenham have been keen to bolster the structure of their football operations since Fabio Paratici stepped down as managing director.

The Italian was handed a 30-month worldwide football ban for his role in the alleged financial irregularities scandal at Juventus.

Spurs were seeking clarification over whether he could still work for the club up until his appeal against it on April 19.

Performance director Gretar Steinsson and head of football strategy Andy Scoulding have taken on some of Paratici’s responsibilities.

Levy has come under fire from some sections of the Spurs support for his running of the club this season.

Spurs sit fifth in the Premier League table and are in danger of missing out on a Champions League place.

They are three points behind Manchester United and Newcastle, having played a game more than both teams.

Supporters have chanted for him to “get out of our club” at multiple games this season, angry at the perceived lack of success during his time at the helm.
