Southampton troll Everton with brutal Tripadvisor review after fireworks set off outside team hotel before match

SOUTHAMPTON trolled Everton with a hilarious Tripadvisor review after they had fireworks set off outside their hotel.

An unidentified group tried to disrupt Saints’ preparations for the crucial Premier League clash against their fellow relegation strugglers at Goodison Park.

Supporters set off fireworks outside of the visitors’ hotel during the early hours of Saturday morning while they were still sleeping, hoping Nathan Jones’ men wouldn’t be fresh enough.

But it didn’t have the desired effect as Southampton went on to win 2-1 thanks to a brace by James Ward-Prowse that cancelled out Amadou Onana’s opener.

Saints’ social media team decided to add some more salt to Everton’s wounds with a brutal review for their hotel on Tripadvisor.

The St Mary’s outfit said they had the “best night’s sleep ever” and praised the triple glazing that they claimed was so good they wouldn’t even be able to hear rockets.

Southampton’s review was titled: “Great trip and best night’s sleep ever!”

The cheeky feedback then read: “We can’t say enough positive things about the Innside By Melia Liverpool!

“Had an important business trip to attend in the city and they were perfect hosts.

“The hotel ensured we were looked after and well-rested for our meeting, which was an extremely productive one.

“Rooms were brilliant, beds were incredibly comfy, and the blackout blinds and triple glazing… oh wow!

“You could literally have a firework display going on outside your window and you’d never know it. Best night’s sleep we’ve ever had!

“In fact, the only rocket we noticed all weekend was the one James Ward-Prowse sent into the net in the 78th minute at Goodison. We’ll definitely be returning again.”

This is not the first time Southampton have a bit of fan with Tripadvisor as they did the same thing in 2018.

Saints left a one star review for the Marriott Hotel in Swansea after their booking was bizarrely cancelled.

They were notified 24 hours before that the 40 rooms they reserved for the night were not available to big groups, despite being open to other guests.

Instead the South Coast club, who were fuming, had to stay at the plush Vale of Glamorgan Hotel outside Cardiff, which is where the Wales football and rugby teams werehoused during international breaks.
