In jubilant scenes, Hillsborough saw a pitch invasion as Wednesday fans celebrated making it to Wembley.

However, one over-excited invader appeared to take out a linesman after bolting onto the pitch.

As the official was running back to the tunnel, the individual clattered into them to send him and the lino flying.

They could both be seen crashing to the floor behind the linesman before running off into the crowd.

Another man, seemingly a club official, took the time to help the linesman to his feet and usher him towards the tunnel.

Some eagle-eyed fans also spotted the collision.

Taking to Twitter, one fan said: “Did a fan just take out the linesman?”

A second typed: “Anyone see the fan take out the linesman when he ran into the pitch? Sprinted right off after it.”

“Did you see the linesman get clattered?” asked a third.

“He’s getting banned,” commented a fourth.

Another added: “Fair play to the guy who went over to help get him off the pitch.”

After the game, Wednesday boss Darren Moore heaped praise on the fans, telling Sky Sports: “The key was the fans.

“I pleaded to them to come out in their numbers and full voice and they’ve given us that all season.

“They [the players] kept going. Why? Because the fans drove them on. The message to the fans is thanks very much.”
