WALES will return to Wrexham’s Racecourse Ground in October to face Gibraltar in a friendly.
The Red Dragons last played at the stadium in March 2019, when Ben Woodburn fired them to a 1-0 win over Trinidad and Tobago.
The Racecourse Gound – which will be known as the STōK Cae Ras this season for sponsorship reasons – is currently undergoing a major renovation in preparation for Wrexham’s return to the football league.
A new 5,500-seater stand is being developed, although it will not be completed before the upcoming Wales match.
Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney were eager to reintroduce international football to the Racecourse Ground when they took over Wrexham in early 2021, so much so that they made it one of their five ‘hard promises’ for the future of the club.
The Racecourse Ground first hosted a Wales match in 1877, making it the oldest international football venue in the world.

Speaking about the decision to bring international football back to North Wales, Wrexham CEO Fleur Robinson told the club’s official website: “We’re delighted to be able to welcome Cymru’s men’s first team back to the STōK Cae Ras for the first time since the Club’s takeover.
“Rob and Ryan have been clear in the mission statement that they wish to return international football to the world’s oldest international football stadium.
“North Wales is the birthplace of Welsh international football and we are keen to play our part in its future too.
“We look forward to welcoming the Red Wall to the STōK Cae Ras in October, for what promises to be a brilliant atmosphere.”

Reynolds and McElhenney have made a huge impact at Wrexham since buying the club two years ago.
Last season, the Welsh side earned promotion back to the Football League for the first time in 15 years.
And the club’s Hollywood owners treated the entire first team to an epic promotion party in Las Vegas to celebrate the achievement.
The duo even covered all costs of the extravagant holiday, according to star striker Paul Mullin.
