Man Utd fined £65,000 for players’ behaviour vs Fulham as they top list of punished clubs this season

MANCHESTER UNITED have been fined £65,000 for their players’ behaviour against Fulham.

The fine comes after the Red Devils were charged for failing to control their players during the FA Cup quarter-final win over Fulham at Old Trafford.

The club was charged in March for the way the players surrounded referee Chris Kavanagh as they appealed for a penalty after Fulham’s Willian handled the ball.

Jadon Sancho’s goalbound effort was blocked on the line by the Brazilian and Kavanagh initially waved play on, leading to the protests.

However, after a VAR check, a penalty was given and Willian was sent off.

Aleksandr Mitrovic and manager Marco Silva were also dismissed for their reactions to the incidents.

A FA statement said: “Manchester United FC has been fined £65,000 after its players surrounded a match official during the 71st minute of their tie against Fulham FC in the FA Cup on Sunday, March 19, 2023.

“The club admitted that it failed to ensure its players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion and do not behave in a way which is improper.

“Manchester United FC’s fine was imposed by an independent Regulatory Commission following a subsequent hearing.”
