Former Chelsea star RETIRES from football at 36 after incredible career spanning 14 clubs


FORMER Chelsea ace Loic Remy has announced his retirement from football at the age of 36.

Remy rolls credits on a career spanning a period of 30 years and a total of 14 clubs.

The forward hangs up his boots just a few months after leaving Brest and becoming a free agent.

The ex-France international spent a total of four years in the Premier League having played for Queens Park Rangers, Newcastle, Crystal Palace and of course the Blues.

Remy’s career kicked off at the tender age of six as he joined ASPTT Lyon before Lyon signed him to their academy in 1999.

The Frenchman was called up to the senior squad seven years later at the age of 19.

The French giants sent him out on loan to Lens in 2008 before his permanent move to Nice the same year.

Remy then crossed over to Marseille in 2010 and spent three seasons with the Ligue 1 giants.

QPR scouted him in 2013 and brought him to Loftus Road where he put together some impressive performances.

Remy spent only a year with the Rs, part of which was at Newcastle on loan.

That led to his move to Chelsea in 2014 and he amassed a total of 12 goals as well as three assists in 47 appearances.

However, Remy never managed to become the West Londoners’ starting striker and was loaned out to Palace in 2016 until his departure from Stamford Bridge a year later.

His nomadic career continued as he went on to play for the likes of Las Palmas, Getafe, Lille, Çaykur Rizespor, Adana Demirspor and of course Brest.
