Fiorentina star Biraghi left covered in blood after missiles thrown from ‘morons’ in West Ham end smash him in head

FIORENTINA star Cristiano Biraghi was left covered in blood after missiles were thrown onto the pitch as he went to take a corner.

West Ham players headed over to the section of the crowd where the objects had been thrown from and implored them to stop.

Following the incident, a stadium announcement said: “This is an important security announcement — stop throwing objects onto the field. Please respect the players and the officials. Thank you.”

Reacting to the shocking incident, SunSport columnist Piers Morgan said: “Shameful behaviour by West Ham fans. 👇👇”

Joe Cole also blasted the “moronic behaviour” of the fans.

Speaking on BT Sport he said: “It’s moronic behaviour, it really is.

“We’ve been praising the West Ham fans, and rightly so. It only takes a handful of idiots to do that. It needs to be sorted out and taken out of the game.”

A fan said: “There’s a lot of blood coming out of that gash on Biraghi’s head, I expect lifetime bans from all football in Europe for those West Ham supporters!!!”

A second declared: “Disgusting behaviour.”

A third added: “Should be a season ban. Same for Roma after last week until fan behaviour improves.”

“Completely unacceptable,” typed a fourth.

The escalation comes after plastic cups were thrown at fellow Fiorentina star Nicolas Gonzalez.

At the Eden Arena in Prague, Czechia, fans are allowed to drink in the stands.

The incident comes after fan violence erupted in the City between two groups earlier in the day.
