Fans throw firecrackers and KNIFE in horrific scenes after team attacked on pitch in warm-up… but match NOT abandoned


A match between Bursaspor and Amedspor descended into chaos as fans and players ran riot before, during and after their feisty encounter.

Various videos on social media purported to show irate supporters hurling objects, including water bottles, firecrackers and a knife onto the pitch in Turkey.

The home fans were also accused of singing anti-Kurdish chants throughout the game.

Amedspor’s own Instagram account shared a live video of the Bursaspor players storming onto the playing field and attacking their opponents as they warmed up.

The brawl was later posted on the club’s social media – with Amedspor labelling the incident an “attack” by Bursaspor’s team.

Incredibly, despite the violence beforehand, the game went ahead as planned.

But the aggression continued throughout the 90 minutes, with fans throwing firecrackers onto the pitch.

Worse still, one picture appeared to show a knife being picked up on the pitch after being thrown from the stands, as the atmosphere descended into madness.

It has been reported MORE altercations continued after the final whistle.

Amedspor have claimed they were assaulted by “private security supervisor, club security officer, club staff, and police officers” in the dressing room corridors.

The Turkish Football Federation has yet to comment on the incident.

In the past few years, Amedspor have been subject to several controversies in Turkey after changing their name to reflect the Kurdish name of the city of Diyarbakir, Amed.

During away games they are are regularly subjected to anti-Kurdish chanting, and their matches often end up as violent affairs.

Most recently, five people were arrested after they raised the flag of Kurdistan during an Amedspor game.

Following the match, Bursaspor tweeted a video of their own players being attacked in the corresponding fixture in Diyarbakir.

A statement accompanying the video read: “We would expect the same sensitivity after the match in Diyarbakir, where we just ‘go to play football’, from those who unknowingly and stun people from where they sit.

“Bursaspor is above politics, it is the city itself. This city is ours
This love is ours!”

On the pitch, Bursaspor ran out 2-1 winners to climb up to 15th in the third division.

The Amedspor team were given a police escort from the pitch as the hurling of objects from the stands continued after the final whistle.
