Man City dusted off their trophy in what has been called a ‘mind game’

While Arsenal have been top of the league for the majority of the season, Pep Guardiola’s side have far more title-winning experience in recent years.

And ahead of the match, City flexed their muscles.

Before proceedings began, the Premier League trophy, featuring City’s Sky Blue ribbons, was brought on to the pitch.

Seeing a video of it posted by Jan Aage Fjortoft, fans couldn’t help but feel that City were attempting mind games.

One replied: “It could backfire.”

And a second quipped: “Nice of them to get it ready to pass on to Arsenal.”

Unfortunately for the Gunners, City’s move didn’t backfire.

The champions produced an excellent display, battering Arsenal 4-1 to move to within two points of them, with a pair of games in hand.

Ahead of the match, former Arsenal defender and BT Sport Martin Keown was mocked for the “cringiest moment of the season”.

Gunners boss Mikel Arteta joined their broadcast ahead of the big match.

He was met by Gunners legends Keown and Patrick Vieira, along with Rio Ferdinand and Joleon Lescott.

Arteta began answering the pundits questions ahead of the crunch clash.

But Keown, who won three Premier League titles with Arsenal, then left viewers squirming when he opened his question by referring to the Arsenal head coach as “boss”.
