Dele Alli pictured surrounded by gas canisters with balloon in his mouth after loan nightmare

DELE ALLI has been pictured surrounded by gas canisters with a balloon in his mouth.

The Premier League star was snapped sitting at a table with a number of pals, seen with a gold-coloured balloon in his mouth.

A pair of large canisters, which look similar to those that contain the legal high nitrous oxide, sit in front of him on the table.

There are also bottles of water, soft drinks and Clase Azul, one of the most expensive tequilas on the market at around £300 a bottle.

Inhaling laughing gas from a balloon is a popular method of taking the drug, also known as “hippy crack”.

It is unclear exactly when or where the photos were taken.

It’s believed they were shared on Be Real, a photo app, before they were shared widely on social media.

Commenters on social media were quick to speculate on what the photo could mean for Alli’s career.

One wrote: “If he wasn’t finished before this is now the end. Very sad – he had the potential to be one of the greatest.”

Another added: “What a downfall.”

Former Three Lions midfielder Alli has been struggling for form after a series of injuries and his transfer from Tottenham to Everton.

He was on loan from the Merseyside club to Turkish side Besiktas until another injury ended his spell there.

In his time in the Turkish league he scored just two goals in 13 games and was described by manager Şenol Güneş as “below expectations in terms of efficiency”.

He was also previously a favourite under Gareth Southgate but has not featured in the England team since he was left out of the Euros squad in 2020.

The photo comes shortly after the Government announced plans to make possession of nitrous oxide, better known as laughing gas, illegal.

The previously legal high can be highly dangerous if abused.

Taking too much can cause nerve damage, heart issues and even death as users can slip into unconsciousness and asphyxiate.

Meanwhile, earlier this month, Cardiff City said they were looking into star striker Connor Wickham after he posted a video of himself seemingly inhaling the drug after his team’s defeat to Swansea.

The clip, posted on his Instagram, seems to show Wickham breathing in with a balloon to his mouth just hours after his club’s 3-2 home defeat.

That came after Manchester United up-and-comer Brandon Williams, was seemingly caught puffing the same gas.

The £60,000-a-week full-back was snapped inhaling from a balloon while sitting as a passenger in a Brabus supercar near the club’s training ground.

Dele Alli’s representatives and Everton FC have been contacted for comment.
