The Spaniard has publicly revealed he’s contemplating his future with the Red Devils

A new four-year contract, which included a massive pay cut, is understood to have been on the cards for the Spain international – who is using his summer holiday to weigh up his next move.

The 32-year-old shared a video of himself wading through crystal-clue water to his Twitter and Instagram with the accompanying caption: “Relax. Recharge. Contemplate.”

The Spaniard’s legion of followers – many of whom are United fans – were quick to comment, with one saying: “Contemplate Saudi Arabia, Dave.”

Another said: “Thanks for everything, Dave, but it’s time to say goodbye.”

De Gea – who moved to Old Trafford in the summer of 2011 – is reportedly a summer target for multiple Saudi sides.

But United boss Erik ten Hag is confident the long-time Red Devil will be at the club next season.

Speaking after his penalty save on the final day of the Premier League season, the Dutchman said: “We want him to stay.

“It shows you can progress, it was a great save, it’s a step up in his performance.

“I think that it’s a symbol for our team during the season, good is not good enough, you have to do better.

“It was a great save in the right moment of the game. We turned the game and we win the game.”

United have, however, earmarked Brentford stopper David Raya as a potential replacement for the former Atletico Madrid man.

But Ten Hag is said to have been put off by the £40million price tag the Bees have slapped on the 27-year-old.
