Players can be fined £250 for arriving late to a session, including training, physio and meetings and even for failing to say good morning to reception staff.

A £200 fine can be issued if the player is not wearing the correct kit, while leaving their kit in the changing room can result in a £100 fine.

Failing to wear a GPS or heart rate monitor ready for training can also see players slapped with a £100 fine, while failing to return the items can result in an identical penalty.

Leaving snus – a tobacco product used by many football stars – on the changing room floor can also see players hit with a £50 fine.

But the heftiest fine which players can be hit with amounts to a costly £3,000.

A fine of this value will be issued if a star reports late for training on a home matchday.

“We have had players leave the day before a game who were about to start – OK on to the next thing. He is not looking for an excuse and that mentality has crept into us.

“From my perspective, we have got rules and regs in place and he has allowed me to actually enforce those.”

He continued: “A lot of times last year people would park, go straight in, people wouldn’t know who is here.

“We have blocked that off, now you have to come through, say ‘Good morning’ to Ann-Marie on reception, have a conversation with her.

“You see the admin staff for the Under-21s, maybe the media department if they are around, you see the kitchen staff. It becomes a family. Just by closing one door, it’s making all the club feel connected.

“Anyone past 9 o’clock is fined for being late. Fines on that, fines on meetings. We don’t have excuses now because we have got a month schedule. You know where you are supposed to be, what days are double sessions.

“The schedule goes to the media department as well, if they want us, we knew about this interview days ago. Everyone can plan their days. It sounds really stupid but it’s simple.”

It was announced last week that NFL legend Tom Brady had become a joint owner in the St. Andrew’s outfit.
