Wilfried Zaha ‘keen on Liverpool transfer’ with Crystal Palace star tipped to quit club in summer

WILFRIED ZAHA is reportedly keen on a switch to Premier League giants Liverpool.

The Crystal Palace star has been in great form this season and has attracted interest from some of the league’s top sides.

The Ivorian’s contract is due to expire at the end of the current campaign and he has been linked with moves to clubs such as Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham and now Liverpool.

The 29-year-old is believed to be “very fond” of Jurgen Klopp’s side, according to Calciomercato.com.

Liverpool have struggled to hit their usual heights this season, with Mohamed Salah and Darwin Nunez not yet at their best.

Klopp has also got to manage injuries to attackers Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz, with the Portuguese man out until after the World Cup.

A move for Zaha could be a wise decision to add some extra quality to his attacking options and as his contract is expiring it may not break the bank.

Zaha has been impressive, not just this season, but for the calendar year as he has scored 14 goals in 2022 so far.

Only Harry Kane (22), Son Heung-Min (18), Ivan Toney (16) and Erling Haaland (15) have netted more.

The forward netted Palace’s winning goal against Wolves last time out and was praised for his crucial performance by former club striker Clinton Morrison.

He told Amazon Prime Video: “Wilfried Zaha changing position from the touchline and coming into pockets of space changed the game.

“No player wants Zaha running at you and once he did that, it made everything happen.

“Olise gives the quality to go either way and once he linked up with the nice one-two-touch-play, it was unstoppable at times.

“A lot of people have the wrong perception of Zaha when they see him getting frustrated and think he’s got a poor attitude.

“It’s not that. He just has a big desire to win.”

Palace fans will be desperate to see Zaha extend his stay at Selhurst Park as he is currently the club’s tenth-highest goalscorer of all time and the highest in terms of the Premier League.

Zaha has spent the majority of his career at Palace, having only been away from the club for two years during a stint with Manchester United.

His spell at Old Trafford did not go to plan and he returned to Palace where he has gone on to become a crucial player for the club.
