West Ham ‘threaten to sue owners of London Stadium’ if they don’t slash beer prices as fans slam £7.30 pints

WEST HAM are reportedly ready to sue the owners of the London Stadium if beer prices are not reduced for their next home match.

The cheapest pint of beer was a startling £7.30 for the Hammers’ opening Premier League game of the season against Manchester City on Sunday – a price which left home supporters furious.

This is a remarkable £2.11 more than an equivalent purchase at London rivals Tottenham.

According to The Mail, West Ham, who do not own the London Stadium, are willing to go to court over the issue.

They cite the Comparable Clubs clause in their catering agreement as something which the London Stadium are required to honour.

In order to safeguard food and drink costs – which West Ham do not profit from – the club have a deal which ensures their prices should be the mean of those at Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs.

But that would mean the cheapest beer should be around £5.75 – £1.55 less than it currently is.

A bottle of coke also currently costs a ludicrous £4.50.

West Ham have contacted caterers Delaware North about the issue, but they insist they cannot change the prices without permission from the venue.

The Hammers expect the prices to be changed in time for their next home game against Viborg in the UEFA Conference League on August 18.

If this does not occur, reports state they will pursue legal action.

Speaking about the price points at the Man City game, one West Ham fan said: “That tastes like bankruptcy.”

While another added: “£4.50 for a bottle of coke!!! S*** the bed! That’s absolutely scandalous! They’re probably buying them in at less than £1 a bottle.”

A recent survey found that Man City was home to the cheapest pint in the Premier League.
