The midfield great started out at Tottenham in 1970 but made a name for himself two years later at Middlesbrough.

McCoist got fined ‘regularly’ at Cheltenham while playing for Souness at Rangers The 68-year-old left Anfield in 1984 and played for Sampdoria as well as Rangers, where he was appointed as the club’s first ever player-manager, before rolling credits on his celebrated career in 1991.
Souness won five league titles, three League Cups and three European Cups with the Reds.
He also counts one Coppa Italia trophy as well as the 1987 double with the Gers.
The Scotland legend, who amassed 59 caps, pursued a career as manager as he took over at Liverpool on the same year he hung up his boots.
Souness left three years later and went on to coach Galatasaray, Southampton, Torino, Benfica, Blackburn and Newcastle.
