ROY KEANE’S horror challenge on Erling Haaland’s dad is just one reason why Manchester United will fail to sign the striker this summer.

That’s according to Paul Ince, who claims Borussia Dortmund star Haaland, 21, would not want to play for the same club as Keane following the 2001 clash between the Irishman and his father.

Keane ruthlessly wiped out Alf-Inge Haaland in the Manchester derby 22 years ago, receiving a red card in the process.

And Keane later admitted he committed the awful kick on purpose as revenge for a run-in years earlier.

Ince reckons that alone would put Haaland off from joining United following transfer links.

And he also says failure to qualify for the Champions League would be the final nail in the coffin for Ralf Rangnick’s transfer hopes.

Ince said: “United need a new striker. Haaland is a tricky one because of the situation with his dad and Keane at Old Trafford.

“I can’t see him going there just based on that, and if there’s no Champions League, he definitely won’t.”

Haaland is one of world football’s top strikers with 80 goals in just 79 games for Dortmund.

Before that, he managed 29 goals in 27 games for RB Salzburg.

And with a transfer clause reportedly worth just £64million kicking in this summer, there are sure to be a host of top teams battling for Haaland’s signature in the next window.

However, Real Madrid are said to have an agreement in place as they also chase a free transfer for Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe.
