Milan protested for a penalty after just five minutes when Ismael Bennacer went down inside the box following a challenge with Kalidou Koulibaly.
The Rossoneri also called out for a red card on Koulibaly after a rough foul on Olivier Giroud.
Giroud tried to show his wounds to the referee but the official and VAR weren’t moved.
It didn’t matter, however, as the ex-Arsenal and Chelsea ace broke the deadlock in the second half on 49 minutes.
