‘Facts are facts’ – Ronaldo hits back at criticism of his Man Utd form and says stats prove he’s still ‘very good’

CRISTIANO RONALDO says he’s ‘very happy’ with his form despite scoring just one goal in 2022.

The Manchester United forward has hit back at criticism that came his way during a SIX game spell without a goal.

Ronaldo though insists ‘facts are facts’, and on paper his 15 goals in 29 games for the Red Devils since his emotional transfer is a good return.

The 37-year-old hit out: “The facts are facts, the rest is not. It doesn’t matter at all. That’s why I’m very happy with my form.

“I’m still scoring goals, helping people, both in the national team and at Manchester United, and that’s why I want to continue like this.

“I started playing at the top level at 18, and I’ve been at the top of the game for 15-16 years.

“It’s my dedication, my passion, my ambition to be working hard all the time.

“This is why I continue to be at the top of the world in terms of performance, trophies, goals and records.”

Ronaldo’s 587-minute spell without a goal included a missed penalty against Middlesbrough in the FA Cup defeat to the Championship side.

He also failed to score an OPEN goal in the 1-1 draw against Southampton.

But an expert finish against Brighton earlier this month proved the five-time Ballon d’Or winner hadn’t lost it just yet.

Ronaldo was then goalless on his return to former foes Atletico Madrid in the midweek Champions League clash after having a remarkable record against them with Real Madrid.

Although he was upended on multiple occasions as the Spaniards targeted him with a number of meaty challenges.

United took a 1-1 draw back to Manchester thanks to an Anthony Elanga strike, and Ronaldo will be hoping he can be the hero against his old enemies in the return leg at Old Trafford on March 15.
