Ex-Germany boss Joachim Low ‘agrees to take Fenerbahce manager job in summer’ despite long-running feud with Mesut Ozil

FORMER Germany coach Joachim Low will reportedly become the new Fenerbahce boss in the summer, despite his long-running feud with Mesut Ozil.

World Cup winner Low has been out of a job since stepping down as Germany manager after Euro 2020.

His last game in charge of Die Mannschaft was a 2-0 loss in the last-16 against England at Wembley.

But now the 61-year-old is going to jump back into club management, with T24 reporting that Low has agreed to become the Fenerbahce boss in the summer.

The move will allow Low to bury the hatchet with his former player Ozil.

Ozil and Manchester City ace Ilkay Gundogan, who are both of Turkish descent, were pictured alongside Turkey’s controversial president Recep Tayyip Erdogan ahead of the 2018 World Cup.

The photo sparked outrage and when the defending champions crashed out in the group stages, Ozil seemingly became the scapegoat for Germany’s exit.

The then-Arsenal midfielder dramatically retired from international football shortly after and accused the German FA of being complicit in incidents of ‘racism and disrespect.’

Low has expressed his desire to talk things through with Ozil.

He said: “Mesut leaving the national team without consulting me beforehand was a great human disappointment for me.

“The time will come when we will talk or meet again. At some point, the day will come when we will talk things out and put everything aside.

“These memories will then also be positive for us. He was an incredibly important and great player with great skills.”
