PAUL LAMBERT is interested in becoming Aberdeen’s new manager.
The former Celtic and Scotland star hasn’t applied for the job after Stephen Glass’ sacking.
But SunSport understands he would be open to talks if the Dons were to make an approach.
Ex-Hibs manager Jack Ross was installed as No 1 candidate for the Pittodrie post.
St Mirren boss Jim Goodwin, Cove Rangers gaffer Paul Hartley and former Hoops chief Neil Lennon are also in the frame.
But there has been plenty of other interest since rookie Glass was axed by Aberdeen chairman Dave Cormack.
Lambert hasn’t managed in his homeland since his first dugout job at Livingston in 2005. He left that post after winning two games in six months.
The 52-year-old went on to make his name in England with Wycombe and Colchester, before taking Norwich City from League One to the Premier League.

Van Veen goaded them after Well’s leveller in the 2-1 win and revealed there was no full-time handshake — as he accused them of dirty tricks.
He said: “No, I didn’t shake their hands — not when they disrespect me like that.
“It’s a game but they didn’t come to shake my hand so I’m not going to step forward to shake theirs.

“I’m sorry to say that because I’m not arrogant, I’m humble. But they are arrogant and they got what they deserved.
“I think they had instructions to take me out of the game. It started in the first ten to 15 seconds. The best way to answer them is to score goals.”
