CHELSEA face missing out on a whopping £97MILLION in prize money following the UK Government’s crackdown on Roman Abramovich.
The Blues owner has been slapped with sanctions from the Government following Russia’s illegal invasion of Ukraine, which was ordered by his pal Vladimir Putin.

And the sanctions imposed on Chelsea will see them miss out on £97million Credit: GETTY Abramovich has been banned from selling the club, which will be unable to buy or sell players, flog club merchandise and tickets or tie their out-of-contract players down to new deals.
And the sanctions imposed on the west Londoners will also prevent them from pocketing any new prize and sponsorship money.
They are also under threat of a points deduction should the club go into administration – a very real possibility without any income.
The standard penalty is nine points – which if placed on them today would see the Blues drop to seventh in the league.

And they earned an additional £6,456,812 for their successful European Super Cup run.
The Government’s sanctions on Russian oligarch Abramovich has prevented the 55-year-old from cashing in on the club.
Abramovich, who according to the Government has had a relationship with Putin for ‘decades’, was willing to write off £1.5BILLION worth of debt to sell the club.
An excerpt of the government’s ruling said: “This association has included obtaining a financial benefit or other material benefit from Putin and the Government of Russia.
“This includes tax breaks received by companies linked to Abramovich, buying and selling shares from and to the state at favourable rates, and the contracts received in the run-up to the 2018 World Cup.
“Therefore, Abramovich has received preferential treatment and concessions from Putin and the government of Russia.”
It later read: “Abramovich…has been involved in destabilising Ukraine and undermining and threatening the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine.”
