They were shown red in added time after a scuffle in the penalty box.

According to the referee, Cruzeiro’s Pottker was sent off for ‘holding his opponent by the shirt and scratching him on the chest’.

Hulk meanwhile was dismissed for ‘fighting back the scratch made by his opponent with a stroke in the back’ of the striker.

Tempers flared on the pitch and a brawl between the two teams broke out, with Hulk having to be held back.

And after the ex-Brazil international and Pottker made their way into the changing rooms the argument continued.

Airton Moises Santos Sousa’s winner on the hour mark proved the difference between the club, but the melee stole the headlines.

Hulk joined Atletico in his homeland after four years in China with Shanghai Port, who he signed for in 2016 in a £50million deal.

Hulk – real name Givanildo Vieira de Sousa – is unsurprisingly known for his rippling physique and made a name for himself with Porto.

The 34-year-old got his nickname because of his resemblance to bodybuilder Lous Ferrigno, who played The Incredible Hulk.

It was revealed by his club’s physio that Hulk sweats so much during games he can shed up to 11lbs in 90 minutes.

His strength on the pitch was on full display this year as he sent an opponent flying with a legitimate shoulder barge on his Atletico debut.
