The German had TWO goals disallowed against the Foxes but had a part to play in Chelsea’s winner.

Werner won a penalty which Jorginho converted, adding to Toni Rudiger’s opener.

Kelechi Iheanacho pulled one back late on but the Blues held out to gain revenge for their FA Cup defeat to Leicester.

They also jumped above their rivals into third to put them in pole position for a Champions League finish.

And it was enough to leave Werner, 25, all smiles and busting a move at full-time.

He told Sky Sports: “I think the first half it was a picture of the whole season for me.

“Until now I think every time I was close but at the end not really close.

“I think for me maybe the unluckiest season I’ve ever had or I ever will have maybe.”

Werner was adjudged as offside in the first-half before seeing a headed goal ruled out as it hit his hand.

But his part in winning the spot-kick which ultimately decided the game was acknowledged by manager Thomas Tuchel, who is now focussing on Chelsea’s visit to Aston Villa on Sunday.

Tuchel said: “It’s his job to be involved in everything and he needs to be involved on Sunday again. It’s no time now for extra praise.

“Enjoy, shut up, enjoy your free day and get ready for Sunday. I don’t feel comfortable now celebrating, I just say what’s needed.”
