SALOMON RONDON has revealed that his mother cried tears of joy after his last-minute deadline day move to Everton went through.
The transfer window clock was ticking down fast before his transfer from Chinese club Dalian Professional was confirmed.
Now the striker is preparing for another Prem debut having already played in the top flight with West Brom.
The 31 year old also did so with Newcastle United under Rafa Benitez, who he also linked up with in China.
He is happy enough about that – but not as much as his mum Maitana.
The Venezuelan who will wear the number 33 jersey reveals: “I called my mum and everything around the move here was stressful.
“When I told her I had the chance to go back to the Premier League she started crying.
“I told her: ‘Mum, I will go to the Premier League, don’t worry’.”
His transfer finally went through with seconds to spare and he says: “Nothing in the world can describe the feeling of seeing my mum crying.”

Rondon, likely to start on the bench in Monday night’s clash with Burnley adds : “We are all really happy – my wife, my kids too because they love England.
“My family could not always watch my games in Venezuela because there is a two hour time difference and sometimes the games were not on the internet or it was not working.
“Now my mum is really happy because she can see the games – everyone back home can see them.”
Boss Benitez is happy, too, saying :”Salomon is a striker who can hold up the ball, good in the air and can make a contribution for the team – attacking and defensively.
“He’s done really well for us. We were always really happy with his commitment.
“He would be losing a lot of money but convincing him to come to Everton – a club that is growing – was not difficult.”
