RIO FERDINAND has questioned whether Manchester United stars are even listening to manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
The Red Devils were humiliated by bitter rivals Liverpool in one of their worst ever defeats on Sunday.
The aftermath has seen pressure mounting on Solskjaer, with rumours circulating that certain players are beginning to question his methods.
United legend Ferdinand has asked whether the players are ignoring instructions as they struggle to find their feet as a team.
He told the Vibe with Five podcast: “It was an embarrassment. I’ve been there, we got beat 6-1 at home by Man City. But we had an identity to fall back on in a couple of weeks.
“This is the problem for this team, they’re struggling to find an identity and who they are.
“These are the questions, when you watch the game, you think ‘what are we?’
“Is the manager giving the players the right information? And if so, are the players not taking on the information?

“That’s what the manager needs to get to the bottom of because at the moment it looks like a team just thrown together.
“They look like a team you watch and think ‘are they coached properly?’, ‘are they taking in the information?’”
Ferdinand joins a growing list of United legends questioning the current set-up at Old Trafford.
Gary Neville blasted his former club for failing to put in the hard yards while Paul Scholes accused youngster Mason Greenwood of ‘cheating’ with his efforts in defence.
All pundits have been united in their assessment of the 5-0 defeat being one of the darkest days in the club’s history.
And Ferdinand said the current squad would be hanging their heads in shame as they search for answers.
He added: “They’ll be embarrassed today. Their pride. They’re going to have to have big meetings, they’re going to have to talk.
“It’s very disappointing and not a nice place to be as a Man United fan. The best teams all had an identity and they all know who they are.”
