MATTEO GUENDOUZI has risked the wrath of Arsenal fans by suggesting his loan side Marseille’s stadium has a much better atmosphere than theirs.
The 22-year-old joined the Ligue 1 side this summer on loan from the Gunners and has already fallen in love with his new surroundings.
And the French ace could be in for a frosty welcome if he does return to Arsenal after saying their ground doesn’t compare to Marseille’s Stade Velodrome.
Although he acknowledged both clubs have massive stadiums, Guendouzi reckons the Gooners don’t have the same passion as their French neighbours.
Guendouzi explained: “The Marseille fans are incomparable. At Arsenal, there’s a big stadium, but it’s totally different.
“The best atmosphere is here. It’s incredible to play in front of a crowd like this…it really lifts the players”
The midfielder endured a torrid spell at Arsenal after signing for them in 2018 for around £7million.
His time at the Emirates was marred with controversy, which included a bust-up with club boss Mikel Arteta.

The pair collided while in Dubai and Arteta told Guendouzi to grow up.
Guendouzi also hit the headlines again for all the wrong reasons in June 2020 when he grabbed Brighton ace Neal Maupay by the throat.
But his Arsenal hell was brought to an end when Marseille took him on loan with the obligation to buy him permanently next summer.
According to Get French Football News, Arsenal will earn around £858,000 for the 12 months Guendouzi spends on loan at Marseille.
The Gunners will then be paid £9.4m at the end of next season to make the midfielder’s transfer permanent.
