Liverpool ‘set to make Jarrod Bowen transfer move after Jurgen Klopp had £20m bid rejected by West Ham in summer’

LIVERPOOL have still reportedly got their sights on Jarred Bowen despite West Ham turning down their first £20million offer.

Although the Hammers seem reluctant to sell their 24-year-old striker, the Reds are unfazed and will make a second bid for him in the January transfer window, according to the Liverpool Echo.

They claim the English striker popped back on Jurgen Klopp’s radar with his impressive displays for the Hammers against Manchester United in the past week.

In both West Ham’s games against the Red Devils, which include their 2-1 loss in the Premier League, and their 1-0 win in the Carabao Cup, Bowen was one of the stand-out stars.

Although he didn’t get on the score-sheet, Bowen set up one goal and had six shots on target over the course of the games.

Bowen also wasn’t scared of going at United’s defence and completed seven out of eleven dribbling runs.

And it’s that tireless work ethic that will make him a great asset to Klopp’s squad, the Echo reckon.

Bowen’s not shy in front of goal either and last season he struck eight goals and five assists in 38 Prem games for David Moyes’ side.

Bowen would be unlikely to start regularly at Anfield with Mo Salah, Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Diogo Jota ahead in the pecking order.

But Klopp knows the value of having Bowen in his squad and at his disposal as they hope to challenge on various fronts.

However, it would likely take a significant bid for West Ham to sell the former Hereford youngster.

The Hammers paid £22m for Bowen in January 2020, tying him down on a five-and-a-half-year contract.

So the Reds will likely have to fork out a lot more than the £20m they wanted to pay for Bowen to entice the Hammers into negotiation.
