JURGEN KLINSMANN congratulated England after they beat Germany in a classy message, admitting Gareth Southgate’s men deserved their victory.
The Three Lions beat their arch rivals in the knockout stages of a major tournament for the first time since the 1966 World Cup final, thanks to goals from Raheem Sterling and Harry Kane.
Klinsmann was part of the Germany squads that won major tournaments after knocking England out – the 1990 World Cup and Euro 96 – both at the semi-final stage and both on penalties.
But after Tuesday evening’s game, Klinsmann commended England for their performance at Wembley, saying they deserved to progress to the quarter-finals.
Speaking on the BBC, the Tottenham legend said: “Well deserved from England, they believed and they dominated the second half.
“Germany had two or three big chances but they didn’t use them.
“England used theirs so well deserved, a fantastic night for England.”
Klinsmann went on to say the Three Lions must take advantage of their favourable draw, adding: “This is England’s moment.
“You’ve got to realise, you go through to the quarter-finals, and they can play in a semi-final here.

“It’s not going to be an easy road to the final, but it’s doable and now they’ve shown the belief.
“Harry Kane broke through and scored his first goal and the energy is high…

Klinsmann’s co-pundit Alan Shearer added: “What an occasion. The atmosphere was absolutely amazing.
“Well done to the England players, well done to Gareth Southgate because he had a plan before the game.
“Plenty of impatient people in this stadium were shouting for more forward players on the pitch, but he had his game plan.
“He put Grealish on at the right time and they got a little bit of luck when they needed it at 1-0 when [Thomas] Muller went through, you’d expect him to score there.
“It was a very dominant performance and they did what they had to.”
