GARY LINEKER and Piers Morgan have welcomed Cristiano Ronaldo back to the Premier League after his stunning Manchester United return.
The legendary 36-year-old attacker informed his former club Juventus that he wanted to leave on Thursday.
And in the following 24 hours he almost gave every Man Utd fan a heart attack when he was odds-on to join fierce rivals Manchester City.
But in a dramatic turn of events, City pulled out of the running and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer expressed United’s interest in re-signing Ronaldo in his press conference on Friday.
Ronaldo left Turin for Lisbon on a private jet and within an hour of touching down, United confirmed his return.
Lineker, one of England’s greatest strikers, welcomed Ronaldo back to the Premier League on Twitter.
He said: “Breaking news: @Cristiano is going back to @ManUtd. Wow! Just Wow. What a signing.
“What a transfer window for United. What a home coming. Love it.”

“Congrats & welcome back my friend @cristiano.”

And in the true spirit of celebrating a Friday night, one United fan has placed his order of drinks for the night.
The United fan replied: “15 jäger bombs and 12 pints please barman.”
Shortly after the news broke, England international Jadon Sancho tweeted: “SCARY HOURS.”
‘Agent’ Bruno Fernandes – as he’s now called after helping engineer the move by staying in contact with his fellow countryman in the last few days – quickly followed suit, tweeting: “‘Agent Bruno’? Welcome back home @Cristiano.”
It’s not just football fans and footballers who have reacted to the news, legendary Olympic sprinter Usain Bolt – a diehard Man Utd fan – has also shared his thoughts.
Bolt shared two pictures of himself and Ronaldo to Twitter with a caption saying: “It’s only a right @Cristiano @ManUtd.”
And no matter what’s going on in the football world, fans still find the time to banter Arsenal.
One fan hilariously but accurately took aim at the Gunners saying: “You know what’s the craziest part?
“In a window where Messi, Ramos, Donarumma, Hakimi, Wijnaldum go to PSG.
“Lukaku, Koundé go to Chelsea. Grealish goes to to City.
“Memphis, Aguero go to Barca. Sancho, Varane, Cristiano come to OT…
“The biggest spenders are still Arsenal.”
