Chelsea on transfer alert as David Alaba CONFIRMS he is quitting Bayern for free.. but Blues face fight with Real Madrid

DAVID ALABA has confirmed he will leave Bayern Munich on a free transfer this summer.

The Austrian superstar, 28, has refused to sign a contract extension at the Bundesliga giants after claiming he’s been made to feel under-appreciated by a series of low-ball wage offers.

Alaba – who is believed to be demanding £400,000 a week – is being chased by Chelsea, Man City and Real Madrid.

But the sought-after star has claimed he doesn’t yet know where he’ll be playing next season.

In a press conference on Tuesday, Alaba said: “I have decided to do something new. It wasn’t an easy decision.

“I have not yet made the decision where to go.

“I have personally decided to see something new, to look for a new challenge. That certainly took its time.”

On his future, Alaba continued: “It’s no secret that my agent is negotiating with other clubs.

“I am looking for a new challenge to develop myself as a person on and off the pitch.

“Where can I continue to play football successfully? That will certainly be important in my decision.”

Bayern Munich have already moved to replace Alaba for the 2021-22 season.

The reigning Bundesliga champions announced the signing of sought-after Dayot Upamecano earlier this week.

Chelsea and Real Madrid are believed to be the only teams with any concrete interest in Alaba such are his wage demands.

Despite seeking a pay-rise, Alaba claimed money had nothing to do with his decision to leave.

The versatile star said: “[Money] wasn’t a factor for me. A lot was interpreted from the outside.

“I couldn’t say much from my side because we had a lot of games. It’s a difficult phase with communication.

“My management is in talks, I get information and don’t worry. “

Strongly linked with a move to the Bernabeu, Alaba was cheekily asked how his Spanish was.

Alaba replied: “We’ve had Spaniards on the team now and again in recent years.

“Since Lucas Hernandez often plays next to me, it might work a little better, although his German is getting better.

“But my Spanish is not good.”
