FENERBAHCE president Ali Koc has revealed that a deal to sign Mesut Ozil from Arsenal is ‘closer’ than it has ever been before.
The 32-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to join the Turkish giants this month as he approaches the end of his contract at the Emirates.

SunSport have exclusively revealed that the World Cup winner would be prepared to leave North London this month.
But the former Real Madrid playmaker would want the Gunners to spread out the remaining of his £350,000-a-week across three years.
This would see Arsenal pay Ozil £68,000 a week until the summer of 2023, though the club would reduce their immediate wage commitment to the midfielder by £1.2million PER MONTH.
Ozil has been tipped to join Fenerbahce, with his brother even posting a picture of their badge on his Instagram story along with a winking face emoji.
And now Fenerbahce’s president Ali Koc has talked up a move for the ex-Schalke star.
Speaking after Monday’s 3-0 win against BB Erzurumspor, Koc told TRT Spor: “Mesut Özil is still a dream. Not a single person from Fenerbahce has not made a statement.
“There are issues between Mesut and Arsenal. We are closer than before.
“There is nothing finished. It may or may not end. It is in our hands to come out of the news as it is finished.

“The club knows what the coach wants and our transfer policy is guided by that.
“We speak when the signatures are signed. The news comes out until the signatures but we only talk after the signatures.”
Ozil – who could wear the No67 at the Sukru Saracoglu Stadium – stated on Twitter today that he supported Fenerbahce growing up in Germany.
Replying to a fan who asked him why he likes the club, he said: “I grew up as a @Fenerbahce fan as a kid in Germany.
“Every German-Turkish person supports a Turkish team when they grow up in Germany.
“And mine was Fenerbahce. Fenerbahce is like Real Madrid in Spain. The biggest club in the country.”
