What is Gabi’s secret?

Lausanne, Switzerland, January 31, 2020 – A key player for Brazil and for her club VakifBank Istanbul of Turkey, Gabriela ‘Gabi’ Guimaraes was one of the stars of the FIVB’s flagship competitions in 2019, including the FIVB Volleyball Nations League, FIVB Volleyball World Cup and FIVB Volleyball Women’s Club World Championship. Gabi was her country’s leading scorer as they claimed second place at the Volleyball Nations League, only losing to USA in five sets in the final in Nanjing, China on July 6. In August, the South Americans followed that up by qualifying for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games on home soil in Uberlandia. And in September they won seven matches out of 11 to claim fourth place at the Women’s World Cup in Japan behind China, USA and Russia. In December, VakifBank Istanbul claimed bronze at the Women’s Club World Championship after defeating Igor Gorgonzola Novara of Italy in the match for third place.
