Watch Gomes ‘lose his mind’ as Tom Hanks in Cast Away as he pays tribute after Hollywood star’s coronavirus diagnosis

EVERTON ace Andre Gomes is feeling Cast Away during the coronavirus pandemic.

And to make his point the footie star has posted a video of himself imitating Tom Hanks’ classic Oscar-winning performance as Chuck Noland in the 2000 film

Hanks, who along with his wife Rita Wilson, tested positive for Covid-19, was wished a swift recovery by the Portuguese midfield maestro.

In the movie, Hanks’ character winds up stuck on an uninhabited island after his plane crashes, with just his personified volleyball “friend” Wilson for company as he battles for survival.

Everton’s No21 captioned the video: “I don’t know about you, but lately I’ve been feeling like Tom Hanks in the Cast Away movie.

“@tomhanks, wish you and your wife a great recovery! I’m with you”.

And Gomes, speaking to his own “Wilson”, recreated one of the movies’ scenes – but with a personal twist.

The 26-year-old conversed with himself: “Oh, I don’t even know which day is today.

“It’s been a while at home.. lack of food.. it’s hard eh?

“What? I don’t know.. maybe a few more weeks.

“Imagine for me.. I was out of football for four months.. without touching the ball.. and now that I’m back I have to sit at home.. it’s bad, really bad.

“What can we do?”

The unfortunate star was only just back from a four month injury layoff after suffering an awful ankle injury against Tottenham back in November.

Fans have enjoyed the video, with one replying: “Oscar for u”, while another added: “This is the underrated thing we all didn’t ask for, but the thing we need”.

The Premier League is currently suspended until April 4, but it is set to be a lot longer than that before we see Gomes and Co take to the field again.
