Thiago Silva’s wife reveals they fled Paris for safety of their family amid coronavirus fears despite risking PSG wrath

THIAGO SILVA has become the latest Paris-Saint Germain player to flee France amid the coronavirus outbreak – a decision his wife Isabel has put down to protecting their family.

Heading back to Brazil with their two sons, Isago and Iago, the couple are risking the wrath of Silva’s club who fear they will end up trapped in South America.

France is currently on lockdown with citizens required to show documentation to leave their houses while pubs, cafes and non-essential shops are closed.

The latest figures showed almost 11,000 confirmed cases of coronavirus across the country with a death toll of 372.

Such a dire situation compelled the Silvas to head back to Brazil, which Isabel feels was a necessary decision to protect the family.

She said on Instagram: “The situation in Paris is really sad.

“France is the European country second-most affected by the epidemic, the situation is now difficult and we want to protect ourselves in the best conditions.

“In Paris, the supermarkets are emptying quickly and each doorway is a risk of contamination for me and my family.

“We took a flight to Brazil because here I was able to find food in the supermarket, and we have more options in terms of staying at home with the children, here we have the swimming pool.

“Our decision is therefore based on these factors. The protection of our family remains our priority.

“None of our family members have symptoms of the virus but we followed the recommendations of the health authorities, avoiding any contact during the flight and upon arrival to avoid any contamination.”

Neymar has also left Paris for his home country, according to reports, after Ligue 1 was suspended.

The fear is that, when the time comes to return to training as Europe overcomes the virus, other parts of the world may themselves be on lockdown – such as Brazil.

The most recent figures state that the South American nation has just over 650 cases of coronavirus with seven deaths.
